New Report Identifies $400 Billion Market Opportunity in Energy Efficient Commercial Building Retrofits
in Green Buildings & Green Technology, HVAC
A new white paper from Pike Research, which describes itself as “a market research and consulting firm that provides in-depth analysis of global clean technology markets,” says the commercial building sector holds a total of $400 billion worth of green retrofit potential.
As you may have noticed, that’s money on a level that rivals the gargantuan federal economic recovery package.
Interestingly, Pike’s analysis shows that the real driver for undertaking all of these retrofits and renovations won’t be cost savings but the need and/or desire to meet policy objectives like lowering carbon footprints, improving employee productivity, and others.
As stated by the company itself, Pike’s report addresses the following questions:
- Where are the biggest opportunities to save energy (which building activities, regions, and owners)?
- How will federal legislation affect the energy efficiency retrofit market?
- Which retrofit practices are the most cost-effective and value-enhancing?
- What are the primary challenges and opportunities for energy efficiency retrofits, for each market segment?
- What present and future best practices will address these challenges and opportunities?
- What technologies, programs, and policies will expand very rapidly in the next 5 years?
The 94-page report features 65 charts and was released in the second quarter of this year. For more info, see the official press release, dated April 28.
