Want to hear about “the most famous HVAC contractor on the planet”?
That’s the title Construction Week gave to Alan Givens, CEO of Parrish Services, Inc. in Manassas, Virginia, in passing along the word from a May 11 article at The ACHR News. In “Industry Rep Meets with President Obama,” the News reported that Givens, who is also the Virginia state president of the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors (PHCC) Association, received a call on April 10 from PHCC Executive Director Ike Casey asking if Givens could meet with President Obama on April 15.
It turned out that Givens was one of eight people who were being invited to meet with the president on tax day in order to tell him how they had already started benefiting from and taking advantage of the Economic Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
“Obviously, I accepted,” Givens said, adding that “I went through a vetting process on Monday, got the invitation on Tuesday, and on Wednesday I was shaking hands with the President of the United States.”
Givens ended up being the only business owner among the group. And why was he selected? Well, it may be due to the fact that his Parrish Services, Inc. has experienced a 91 percent growth rate this year, much of it due to his taking advantage of tax credits available for geothermal sales.
We hesitate to close by saying something like, “So just get on the ball, folks, and take advantage of those tax credits, and you, too, may end up meeting the president!” But, you know, in light of Givens’ mind-blowing experience it doesn’t seem possible to rule anything out.
