Use Your System Wisely: 10 Air-Conditioning System Tips for Spring
in HVAC
Utah Business magazine, Utah’s only monthly statewide business publication, offers a helpful article at their Utah Business Blog for all facility managers and building owners and HVAC system operators in honor of this year’s Earth Day.
It’s written by Larry Montague, General Manager of Comfort Systems USA Intermountain, and titled “10 Cooling System Tips for Spring” (April 23).
Montague starts by saying,
As temperatures rise, it’s important to make sure your customers and employees remain comfortable while at your business. In order to ensure comfort you should prepare your cooling system for its workload before you put it through the daily rigors of a Utah summer. Comfort Systems USA Intermountain, a heating, ventilating, air conditioning and plumbing (HVACP) company with more than 50 years of service in Utah, has come up with a list of the top 10 tips to prepare your system for warmer temperatures and how to save on energy costs.
The list he then offers includes these tips, which we repeat in condensed version:
- Check your air conditioner’s condenser or outdoor coil to make sure there’s no debris or vegetation within a foot of it.
- Change the filter in your furnace and/or rooftop unit.
- Check all of your air vents to ensure they are open, clean and unblocked.
- Schedule a quarterly planned maintenance check-up with a licensed, bonded and insured HVAC contractor.
Obviously, there are six more. Why not click through to read them? The season is changing and it’s always best to be armed with as much information as you can get when you’re taking care of your building’s HVAC system at these sensitive times.
